Construction of Cordish Companies' new $270 million casino in Louisiana has begun.
A Louisiana Company Named Cordish
Bossier City, Louisiana is going to be home to the new Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana. In this endeavour, Cordish's affiliate LRGC Gaming Investors is taking the lead.
Despite the project's late approval in October, Cordish has moved quickly to begin work. After Cordish announced intentions to renovate the Diamond Jacks Hotel & Casino in April, this followed. On top of the original building is the new arena.
With more than 47,000 square feet of gaming space, the venue will be a Live! flagship. There will be around 40 live table games in addition to over a thousand slots and electronic table games.
According to Cordish, the City of Bossier will receive $35 million in gaming tax revenue over the first five years of operation of the project. Also anticipated for that time frame is the venue's tax revenue contribution of more than $168 million to the state of Louisiana.
According to Cordish, the facility is expected to bring in $34 million per annum from salaries, wages, and tips. Additionally, it will generate 750 new construction employment and about 750 more permanent gaming and hospitality jobs.
Attendees at the ground-breaking ceremony included Barrow Peacock, a senator from Louisiana, Thomas Chandler, the mayor of Bossier City, and Ronnie Johns, the chairman of the Louisiana Gaming Control Board.
'Transformative' growth in Louisiana is lauded by Cordish chair
The ceremony was also attended by Cordish chairman Jon Cordish. He proclaimed the upcoming casino to be a "transformative" boon to Bossier City and the state of Louisiana.
"Today is a very momentous day for my family and The Cordish Companies as we move forward with the development of Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana, continuing our expansion of the Live! brand in the southeast region of the country," Cordish announced.
"Live! Casino, the marketplace's first land-based casino, will be a game-changer, providing first-rate gaming and entertainment to millions of tourists, spawning substantial new employment, and bringing in millions of dollars in economic advantages for the town for years to come."
